Choosing the right Electric Guitar String Gauge for you
The gauge of a guitar string refers to the string’s thickness (diameter). Each string that you place on your guitar will have a different thickness, with the thickest roundwound strings producing the lowest tones and the thinnest steel strings producing the highest tones. There are many gauges of electric guitar strings. However, the most common electric guitar string gauges used are 09 to 42 (often referred to as light) or 10 to 46 (often referred to as regular or standard).
